Capital Studios

Capital Studios is the first affordable housing community built in Ddowntown Austin since 1967, right at the footsteps of the State Capitol. DC+A worked with Foundation Communities, a local nonprofit, on this extremely-low income, supportive housing project.

The project has been designed to exceed LEED Platinum standards. The design features 4 levels of residential units and amenity spaces above a 2-story concrete podium. Careful consideration was given to bring daylight into all the occupied spaces.

A large central courtyard provides outdoor “living rooms” and carefully placed balconies highlight views of the Capitol Building. Capital Studios was just awarded the Austin Business Journal’s Commercial Real Estate Award as the 2015 Best Multifamily Project.
