Vastu House

For a longtime client, collaborator, and friend, Vastu House became an opportunity to create a deeply personal home on the foundation of the house where he grew up.

Designed for a vibrant multigenerational family with a constant flow of friends and relatives, the house reimagines a familiar place around the way the family lives today.

The plan, massing, and orientation are guided by the principles of Vastu Shastra, which informed the location of the entry and bedrooms and established a central courtyard as the heart of the home. Living, dining, and kitchen spaces wrap the courtyard, creating an easy connection between indoors and out while allowing family life to gather around a shared center.

A sequential path moves around the courtyard and culminates in the meditation room, where views extend toward the pool and lawn. Throughout the house, architecture, landscape, and the principles of Vastu work together to create a home rooted equally in family history and contemporary life.
